I Wanna Be A Guitar Hero

Hi Kawan-Kawan~ This is another post to update on my quest to play the guitar properly. Well, more like an update on my equipment. ^.^

It's been one year, well, not exactly, I think it's one year plus a few days, since I've started playing guitar. And in that one year, man, learnt a whole dang lot. I still remember the day when I picked up my first Acoustic guitar from Guitar Collection at Sunway Pyramid. I was as blur as shit, scared, and unsure of what this is all about.

But I was sure about one thing, I heck wanted to learn how to play the guitar.

So there I go, got my RM400 acoustic, which I named Abby, and there my journey started, as a amateur guitarist. I got home, and played. I was lost. =S It as like, what the hell, six strings and no where to start. Luckily, my ever faithful buddy, Brenda, gave me starters. She borrowed me this chord book, which I bought later on also, and started off from there. A, B, C, D, F, Am, and all those chords were so foreign to me. Lol. Thinking back, I even had trouble memorizing the positions. XD And barres! Aren't they just the nightmare for every new guitarist out there. Man, they're still nightmares for me. Thankfully, I can barre properly now. Woohoo.

Not long later, I got my first electric, Elly, which was a Strat Copy and was really really budget. I had no idea how electric was different from acoustic then. I've always just thought that electric is just the more noisy version of acoustic. Lol. Funny. So, there I was strumming full chords on my electric. Oh my god. Hahah. But being so amateur, I thought that was supposed to be it and I actually enjoyed it. XD No wonder my mom was complaining about the noise. Hee hee. That went on for like.....months, until I took classes. Which I loved so much, and so that's when I found out about Power Chords, and Scales. Now I'm making constructive noise! XD

And so, actually, from then until today, I've gotten lotsa new stuff for my guitar addiction, which includes a new amp, two new guitars, and lots more. You know, it's like, when you get better, you crave for better equipment......but in my case, I'm doing that a little too fast I think. XD I mean, the craving. XP So, without further ado, lemme enlighten you on my current gear.

But first, here's the last post about my guitars :

Guitarist Wannabe

Hmm, first a little recap on my trusty ol' wife, Abby. Dipersilakan:-

Front View

Look at how it still shines eventhough its pickguard is so scratched!

Ah, the headstock shows signs of aging as the 'Pyramid' is fading!

Now, now, the sexyback. Still as reflective as ever. ~o~

Once again, to prove, old is gold. =P

She's using a set of Ernie Ball Extra Slinky Phosphor Bronze strings, which are gauge 10-50. The G-string, aka the 3rd string, broke one day when I brought it to school, so now it's a D'Addario one. Then, the e string, aka the 1st string, broke one day when I was jamming with it electric style and I bended it. Twang. Ouch. But it's been replaced by a Ernie Ball as well. So now, the colours of the strings Abby has is really unique. XD One is brighter than the other. Well, to say, she's the one I've been bringing in and out of school for no reason, for auditions, for special occasions, back hometown, and for birthday parties. She's already gathered a reasonable amount of scratches, chips and bumps, but she's holding on just fine. She still sounds bloody great compared to others I've played. I love her. =)

------------------

Well, well, this second spot belongs to Elly, my first electric. Didn't manage to catch personal pictures of her as my little brother took it out to his friends house during the time of photo shoot. =S And well, yes, sharing is caring. You can catch her in my previous post!

A little history about it is that I started guitar classes with Elly. I learnt all my first power chords, and elec tricks on it. She wasn't as easy to play and was kinda hell on my fingers but she's a really good practice guitar. She doesn't have decent sustain, but well, that's about it. She still makes good sound, and even better if used with a distortion pedal. So, she's pretty bang for a buck, being budget and all. =)

-----------------

Ahah, here comes my second electric. I previewed her sometime back and that was then I promised to show more of her in my next guitar post, and well, after a million years, here it is. Give way, to Emily-chan, my lovely Epiphone Emily The Strange Limited Edition G-310 SG:-

Front View

As all my guitars do, they bloody shine. =)

My favourite part of the guitar, the headstock. Seriously, look at it.

The truss rod cover! Unique to this guitar. Lovely.

Sexyback 2. XD No really, look at that reflection. =)

Got Emily for my 17th birthday, that means I got her around........4 months ago. Pretty new, but it's my baby. MY BABY. Which means it belongs to me. Meeee only. =) No one can touch it but me. Yes. It's that preciousssss. MY preciouss. =P Being an Epiphone, what can I expect from it? Nothing but top notch quality of course. It's like, Toyota to Proton, Ferrari to Perodua. Superior in everyway to other lower range guitars. Man, the action, which is how close the strings are to the fretboard, which determines how easy the thing plays, is bloody great. I can bend, slide and tap with almost no effort. It's that nice to play. Not to mention it's tone is awesome. The dual humbucker pickups deliver the power like never before. Man, everytime I play it, I just feel like rocking. Hehe. Coupled with my uber cool cables and wicked amp, it's almost an orgasm everytime I play it. Hohoho. I've brought it to jamming sessions but she has yet to make an appearance on stage, which I hope I can do so soon. Wee. Emily is hot. =)

---------------

Well, three guitars is like overkill right? Brace yourself and welcome, my newest member of the family, my new Epiphone acoustic, which I have yet to name. Hehe. Here it is:-

Front View

Hot Smexy Shot of it's front. The perfect unscathed shine. >o<

A beauty of a headstock.

Side view. Look at the pickup!

Sexyback 3. I told you my guitars shine, cause I love em. XP

This new babe, is like a oomphed version of Abby. It's got a brand, it's got a pickup with in build tuner and equalizer, it's got a cutaway. All that I wanted is now in this one. ^.^ It sounds like heaven and man, it just looks plain good. Well, no history cuz I got it just three days ago. Haha. But well, just for trivia, I'm going to use this guitar for my performance for MPT 5. Hell yeah. XD So........suggestions for a really good name? =)

---------------

So, that's pretty much everything about my guitars. I only have...........4. *runs* I'm going to post another post dedicated to Emily soon, coz I owe her that. Lol. I hope I can do it soon enough. >.< style="font-weight: bold;">Marshall MG 30DFX:-

Say hello to my neighbours' nightmare. XD

I have a thing for that Marshall logo. Gives me goosebumps.

There, the name. =)

Oh, the knobs! So many~

Sexyback 4. Lol. That space behind is really handy when I move it around. Stores all my accessories in one place. Like a mini store room. Hehe.

Walala, there it is, the amp I only dreamed of. This was the wicked amp I was talking about. It made even more noise than the Viking one. Well, that's just right cuz this one it 30 watts pure power compared to my measly Viking 15 watts. It's so bloody loud, I can only turn the thing up like 25% but that's already pushing it. Hahah. It's built in with 2 channels, one clean, one overdrive, and each has their own equalizer and volume control, which means I don't have to readjust whenever I change from clean to noisy. Weee~ It's also inbuilt with 4 digital effects, Reverb, Delay, Chorus and Flanger. Each can be individually controlled to your liking. That also means I got four effects without having to buy the pedals by themselves. ~o~ Suffice to say, it makes everything sounds good. I don't know why. XD

--------------

Remember the pick collection I had in my previous post? I did tell you they've grown right? I didn't? Well, see for yourself:-

That's alot of picks. And I don't use all of em. Mostly are for collection purposes. =)

Dramatic view

My favourite pick

Eversince I started playing guitar, picks have been an obsession. I've been collecting picks and man, the collection have grown. My first pick was a Jim Dunlop medium and now look at this. I've got picks that range from all kind of shapes, regular, three sided, triangle, thumb pick, and the designs range from a Steve Vai signature one, an Offspring one, a glow in the dark one, all the way to my favourite JD Jazz III pick, which I use for my electric while I play lead. Hahah. Picks are deeper than they seem. Lol~

Here are the extra shots of my guitar stuffs:-

My two effect pedals

My uber noiseless Ibanez cable

Guitar stand~! Abby in front. That's my Fender strap, which I adore, cuz YUI uses it. XP And behind are Ritter bags! They're like branded guitar bags. =S The grey one has my big bro's bass in it, and the pink one is the one I use to store Emily when I carry her around. Oh, notice that necklace? [look hard]

Emily in front

New babe in front.

Headstock fetish. Can you see the necklace now? =)

Here it is up close. =P

Family Picture 1~ Elly came back. =)

Family Picture 2! My lovelies.

It's weird how far I've gone in the guitar world. From the noob guy who knows nothing, to now, a guy who is still a noob, relatively, but has grown tremendously since one year ago. I leveled up! Lol~ Now, I have so bloody many guitars, I have so many picks, an awesome amp, a pick necklace and all that. I think you can all start to call me a guitar freak. Freak I admit. Hahah. But really, I've no regrets in stepping into the guitar world, instead I just wanna go further, learn more, as I just love music. Writing songs, learning new techniques, everything is so interesting. I mean, how can you not? Well, as the title suggests, I really hope I can be a guitar hero someday, or somewhere close at least? Lol~! Wish me luck people, and hopefully, everyone won't mind the noise I make in the process. Thank you!

P/S: All the above equipment, at least, most of them are sponsored by my ever grand Daddy. This post is here because of him, and well, he's just the best lah. He pwns all the other Dads in the world. =P
